2026 BEST IN SHOW
2026_028
Maple, pied nutmeg, male, 10 months, owned by Donna Anastasi of ABC Gerbils in Old Orchard Beach, Maine.
First Place I love this man. He’s a heckin’ chonker, although he’s not actually fat, just thick. Excellent body type for a mature male. His head and facial structure are fairly plain, but correct. Regarding color, he has an excellent pied pattern, with only a few stray white hairs on his topline. His blaze and collar are clean and beautiful, with a nice white tip to the tail. The nutmeg color does not show off the contrast quite as well as some other bases, but he is still a lovely and appealing animal. Another unfortunate effect of the nutmeg color is a tendency towards highly visible molt lines, and he has a small one, but we can’t hold that too hard against him. If I’m being overly critical, his tail may be a bit short. Otherwise, it’s hard to fault this guy.
2026 BEST OPPOSITE SEX IN SHOW
2026_035
Madelyn, cream, female, 4 months, owned by Emelyn Wilsey of Friendly Gerbils for You in New Market, Tennessee.
Best Opposite Sex Very nice athletic feminine body type – sleek and strong, not skinny. Short, broad head, but ears are a bit too upright and eyes are a bit too round. Thick, straight tail; looks like a good tuft, but it’s not in focus. Color is a delicate, light cream, of an even shade across the body. A deeper cream color is preferred, but she is distinctly cream and not white. Coat is soft and clean; she looks alert and engaged. I would continue to show her, though if she is a Silver Schimmel as entered, she may end up showing as White instead of Cream as she matures.
