Judge's Photo Favorite
Smoky Quartz, owned by Melanie Sanders It is charming to see his progression between these two photos and in both he has an animated and friendly demeanor. This award is the equivalent of a little kiss from the judge! The photos appear to have been taken at very different points in time, and both are forward shots that cut off the tip of the tail, so it makes my task a bit more difficult. In the left hand photo, his color actually looks more Siamese than Burmese, although given how dark his feet and mask are and the different color of the second photo, he probably is a Burmese. He has a nice thick tail although tuft is not visible. In the left photo he appears to have nice male conformation and not too much white on face and paws. Feet are very dark and face is attractively shaded. He looks like he must be or have been a real sweetheart. |
3rd Place Gerbil Collective's Cricket, owned by Cathy Bickel, Gerbil Collective Face is attractively shaded. I very much like her ear shape. She may be a bit on the large side for a female, although it could also be that she just chose to hunker down in the side view. I see only a touch of white on her lip but front paws are not visible. Rear paw is just barely visible; looks like it's lightly pointed. Her color may be thrown off a bit from the light, she appears a little more gray than say CP04, another Burmese. Nice long straight tail. Coat is soft with no visible molt lines. Pretty girl. |
2nd Place GDG Anastasia, owned by Jamie Thurlow, Gerbera Daisy Gerbils This girl has the nice beige color I like to see in a Siamese. The face and feet are lightly pointed. I see a bit of a white stripe under her chin but can't see her front paws very well. Her eye and ear shape look good. I very much like her overall conformation - she appears to have a very straight top line and good muscle tone, especially from the side view; from the front she appears a bit smaller. She has a very nice long straight tail. Gorgeous whisker fan. Coat is a bit separated in side view; maybe a sand bath would help, or maybe there's a bit of roughness from moulting. |
1st Place GDG Koa, owned by Jamie Thurlow, Gerbera Daisy Gerbils Wow, this is a lovely burmese with excellent female conformation, muscular with a straight topline, broad head and good set. Her face is nicely shaded. Feet are a bit on the light side. Tail is well-proportioned, thick and what a lovely tuft! I see a bit of white on her lips and maybe a throat stripe. Coat looks a bit separated - maybe she didn't want her sand bath! Eye is a bit round. Overall, a very lovely and impressive gerbil. |
BOS Gerbil Collective's Skippy, owned by Cathy Bickel, Gerbil Collective Love this big hefty boy but tell him to lay off those Doritos! Gorgeous tail, thick, straight and tufty. Coat is soft and clean. All his points are darker than body color, although I wouldn't mind seeing him darker overall. Lovely dark toenails. Head is broad and well set although jowl could be deeper. He turned his face away just enough to make it hard to discern his eye shape, but it appears okay, likewise ear shape. A very handsome boy and very kissable. |
